What you can do.

Step 1: Confirm the Infestation

1. Check for Damage: Look for tiny holes in grain kernels or fine dust-like material at the bottom of your silo.

Treatment Option 1: Green Solution

For eco-friendly pest management:

• Heat Treatment: Increase the temperature in your silo to at least 55°C (131°F) for several hours.

• Diatomaceous Earth: Use this natural, food-safe powder to dehydrate and kill the insects. Apply it to surfaces where the weevils are present.

• Biological Control: Introduce parasitic wasps that target granary weevils.

Treatment Option 2: Chemical Pesticides

For faster control:

• Synthetic pyrethroids (e.g., deltamethrin)
